Taking part in the photo opportunity were UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, outgoing Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, and President of the European Council Donald Tusk.

The G7 summit starts in Biarritz on Saturday and runs until August 26; and will see world leaders discuss topics including tackling global inequality, the US-China trade dispute, the Hong Kong protests and the climate crisis.
