Hundreds of Belarusians who were not able to cast votes in the presidential election protested outside the country's embassy in Moscow on Sunday, after the closure of the polling station.

Footage shows protesters chanting "Long live Belarus" and “Leave” as police surrounded the unsanctioned rally.

According to media reports, protesters demanded an extension of the polling station's working hours.

The Central Election Commission of Belarus announced earlier that incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko won the election with 81,35 per cent of the votes. The opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya got 8 per cent.
