Petra Vlhova, who won Slovakia its first-ever gold Alpine skiing medal, returned home early on Tuesday from the Winter Olympics after sustaining an ankle injury.
At a press conference in Bratislava, the athlete presented her medal, reportedly watched the footage of her winning run in the slalom, and explained her decision to leave Beijing early.
This isn’t Vlhova’s first major title. The athlete was also the first Slovakian to win the overall World Cup title in 2021.
