Democratic Party lawmakers Hui Chi-fung and Lam Cheuk-ting were released on bail after appearing at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court in Hong Kong on Thursday, for charges in connection with two protest-related cases in 2019.

Police were deployed in the court vicinity, where several protesters were seen holding signs and chanting anti-police and anti-government chants, such as "Ridiculous! Shame on police, shame on political prosecution."

Cheuk-ting described the prosecution to be "too ugly" and "evil", and called on the Hong Kong people to "unite together" and to "fight against the dictatorship."

The other released lawmaker Hui Chi-fung, pledged to "stand on the same line with all the citizens" and to "continue fighting" to achieve "justice" and "democracy."

Two politicians from the Democratic Party of Hong Kong alongside other 14 people, were arrested on Wednesday concerning an investigation into the Yuen Long station attack last year, in which one of the detained lawmakers was a victim.
