USA women's national football team striker Alex Morgan told journalists in Lyon on Sunday that it would be great for someone on team USA to win the Golden Boot, but added that she is willing to sacrifice scoring goals if it meant her team winning the World Cup.

"First, I'd like to say that I would love someone on our team to win the Golden Boot. Of course, it would be a great accolade but that's not my goal. My goal is to help this team win a World Cup," said Morgan.

"So, as long as the goals continue to come, then I'm happy. And that's not goals continuing to come from me, but that's as team. And right now, Megan Rapinoe has put the team on her back from Spain to France, and it's going to take players like that and couple of individuals each game to step up and really help carry this team. And 'Pinoe' has done that in great fashion last two games," she added.

The United States of America is due to play England in the 2019 Women's World Cup semi-final at the Lyon Olympic Stadium on June 2. The kick off time is set at 20:00 GMT.
