The ongoing rally against price increases continued in Chisinau, with activists demanding the resignation of President Maia Sandu. 

Footage features tents set up in the square, as well as activists holding placards and flags and chanting 'Down with Maia Sandu!'. 

"I have a pension of 1,718 lei… I paid 1,300 lei for utilities, just for utilities. And I need to eat, I need to clothe myself, you know. I have six grandchildren," said one protester. 

"They (the activists) came here to shout right into the window: 'Parliament, listen up people, we are your people,' he continued. "We voted for you, and what do we have?"

In addition to Chisinau residents, heads of the local administrations of various Moldovan districts also participated in the protest.

The mayors highlighted a range of problems they said they had to contend with; firewood to villagers, funds for schools and kindergartens, and wages for local councils.

"We're trying our best to get some changes, to do something useful for the people we represent, who live in our settlements, so that they don't notice or notice less of what's going on across the country," said another activist.

There was no official information about any detentions on the day of the action. 

Thousands of people attended the first rally on September 18. The organisers, supporters of the opposition Shor party, called the tents a 'City of Change' and said they’d only leave when their conditions were met.

In May, mass anti-government rallies began in the country over soaring energy and food prices, as well as falling living standards and record inflation.
