Yellow Vest protests turned violent in Lille on Saturday with anti-government protesters flipping an Audi on its head.
Footage shows police using tear gas and batons on protesters as they responded by throwing rocks, smoke bombs, and other projectiles. Some protesters were injured and thus carried out of the scene as police charged into the crowds.
Several hundreds of people reportedly took part in the protest. Similar protests were held in other cities across France.
The Yellow Vests movement has been demonstrating against the status quo every Saturday since November 2018. A nationwide strike against pension reforms, one of the largest French history, which started in December 2019 breathed new life into the movement.
