A group of elderly people from a local hospital were seen arriving at a temporary shelter in Erfstadt on Saturday, following the aftermath of heavy flooding in the area over the last few days.

A bus from the fire brigade arrived outside the shelter where the patients were to be accommodated, and firefighters teamed up with members of the Red Cross to escort them inside.

Over 150 people were killed, and more than 1,000 have gone missing after flash floods hit parts of western Germany, while tens of thousands have been left without electricity.

Flooding has also affected Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
