German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that the situation in eastern Ukraine is getting increasingly dangerous, in Berlin Wednesday.

Speaking to the press, Steinmeier also called on both sides to withdraw their heavy weapons from eastern Ukraine and respect the 'buffer zone' in order for there to be peace in the region.

His remarks came on the sidelines of the so-called 'Normandy format' talks on peace in eastern Ukraine which were attended by the foreign ministers of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany at Villa Borsig, Wednesday.
