Mexico will host the dialogue between the Venezuelan Government and the opposition, confirmed Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador during a speech in Mexico City, on Thursday.
"What we are looking for is that there is dialogue and agreements between the parties," he said, adding that "hopefully, an agreement will be reached."
Lopez Obrador stated that Norway was the one who proposed Mexico as the venue for the negotiations, which was accepted by the Mexican Foreign Ministry, although he avoided giving details about the dates.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has confirmed the participation of the Government in the negotiations, which will also be attended by representatives of the Venezuelan right-wing such as the opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez.
