Yellow Vest protesters took to the streets of Paris on Saturday to join ongoing pension reform strike and demand the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron.

Demonstrators joined the protests led by unions that have been held for a few days across the country. The government is reportedly aiming to introduce a universal pension system, but trade unions say that this will result in millions of private sector workers having to work beyond the legal retirement age.

"Why does a social movement last a year? This is not normal, it means that there is a problem. If he could at least bring us a semblance of an answer, but there is none," said Mouin, a protester.

"This is a government of contempt, and I can not bear contempt. The real problem is that this man [French President Emmanuel Macron] must leave and that will be the only moment he will release us from this government of contempt," said Pierre, another protester.

Saturday marked day three of the national strike against the pension reform proposal.
