Italian alpine ski racers and medalists Sofia Goggia and Nadia Delago spoke to reporters following their success in the Women’s downhill competition at the Olympic Games in Beijing on Tuesday where they collected a silver and bronze medal respectively.

"To have been able to get this medal today is amazing, it's unfortunate obviously for that small margin, I congratulate her for having been faster than I was," Goggia said about Swiss ski racer gold medalist Corrine Suter.

"Honestly, I don't think I'm realizing the scope of this just yet, I think I will be more aware of it tomorrow. Everything is great, I am very thankful to be here, it's been a wonderful day. I share Sofia's statements, to be able to share a podium with the best ski racer in the world is something quite special," her fellow countrywoman and bronze medalist Nadia Delago commented.

Goggia’s silver medal achievement comes just three weeks after the 29 year old suffered a sprained left knee, cruciate ligament injury and a fibula fracture at a World Cup super-G race in her native Italy last January.
