President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda congratulated Ukraine for their fighting will, while denouncing Russia and Belarus, during the 77th UN General Assembly in New York, Tuesday.

Speaking on Russia's offensive in Ukraine, Gitanas said that "many thousands have been tortured and killed and millions more were forced to leave their home land. However, this has not broken the will of Ukrainians to defend their country. It has not diminished their fighting spirit. Massacres at Bucha, at Izyum have not brought them to their knees."

He went on to accuse Belarus of being Russia's "proxy", stating that "unfortunately it has surrendered the Belarussian national sovereignty to its big neighbour."

Concluding his statement, Nauseda criticised Russia's P5 status, saying that "a nuclear power plant should never be used as a military base, Moreover, Russia's irresponsible rhetoric on the use of nuclear weapons directly contradicts its role as a P5 state."
