Activists organised an installation and had a choir singing performance to raise awareness and show solidarity to refugees at the Polish-Belarusian border outside the Reichstag in Berlin on Sunday.

Roughtly 5000 green lanterns and lettering reading 'Aufnahme Jetzt,' or 'Admission now,' lit up outside the Reichstag.

The installation was intended to offer refugees a welcoming signal and influence the new traffic light coalition to take action on the refugee crisis.

Deputy chairwoman of 'Wir packen's an' explained that the green lanterns had been used in the restricted border zone by homeowners to identify their houses as a safe place for refugees.
