New detentions and clashes between police and locals broke out on the second day after the announcement of the preliminary results of the presidential election, Minsk, Monday.

The law enforcement officers could be seen detaining several protesters and taking them to paddy wagons.

The protests started on Sunday after the exit poll results were announced. Around 3,000 people were detained in several different cities, including more than 1,500 alone in the capital city of Minsk, according to the Interior Ministry.

The Belarus Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announced the preliminary results of the election on Monday, showing that incumbent Lukashenko received more than 80 percent of the ballots. His main opponent Svetlana Tikhanovskaya got less than 10 percent of the vote, according to the CEC.
