"They impose sanctions, they play with pleasure, such a procedure: who will come up with more of some restrictions and shoot themselves in the foot. Their economy is stagnating, ours is growing, so this process (the growth of the Russian economy) has accelerated," he claimed.
The US, EU and others levied sanctions on Moscow following the start of the Ukraine conflict.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin also emphasised the importance of modernising the armed forces.
"This is obvious, and there is no successful economy without a successful army," Oreshkin said.
SPIEF 2024, held from June 5-8, is expected to attract over 17,000 people from across 136 countries. The forum has been an annual event since 1997. Since 2005, it has been held under the patronage, and with the participation, of the president of the Russian Federation.
