The Soyuz-2.1b rocket, carrying Russia's new generation polar-orbiting meteorological satellite Meteor-M No. 2-4 as well as 17 smaller Russian satellites and the Iranian Pars-1, launched on Thursday from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur Region.
According to the Roscosmos press service, all stages of the launch went normally. The Meteor-M 2-4 spacecraft is designed to monitor the climate and environment, study the Earth's natural resources, and obtain information from automated data collection measurement platforms.
Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology Issa Zarepour stated that the Pars-1 satellite was built by the country's domestic companies and was the 12th Iranian satellite launched since 2021.
On Wednesday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak described the launch of Pars-1 as a significant milestone in co-operation with Iran, 'opening the way to the implementation of new, even more ambitious projects'.
