"What is happening in NATO is wrong. But America is in trouble with the dollar right now, and this [NATO expansion] is their chance to deal with the dollar decline," Turtiainen claimed.
The politician also noted that the US considers Finland 'as the land where they might organise some kind of provocation against Russia', and he takes part in the forum to 'prevent such events'.
"Finland's well-being has always been closely connected with Russia, that is, trade relations with Russia. Finns have always felt good both in business and other areas when they were friends with Russia," Turtiainen added.
The 26th SPIEF takes place on June 14-17. According to the organisers, more than 17,000 people from 130 countries and territories are expected to participate.
The Forum has been held since 1997. Since 2005, SPIEF is held under the patronage and with the participation of the president of the Russian Federation.
