Prime Minister of CAR Felix Moloua said that co-operation with Russia allowed the country 'to restore the authority of our state', speaking at a session of the 27th St Petersburg Economic Forum on Thursday.

"Our country experienced so many difficulties, and we never had the opportunity to fully unlock our potential. There were various gangs and groups in our country," Moloua said.

"Today we have regained territories that were once lost. Through co-operation [with Russia] we were able to strengthen our defence aspect and benefit from the experience of the Russian Federation. Through co-operation, we were able to strengthen this point, and this allowed us to restore the authority of our state," he continued.

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Sudan Sovereign Council Malik Agar said that his country would also strengthen ties with Russia.

"We have a history of co-operation with Russia since the 1950s. It's continuing now. We have so many protocols which are signed together. We have so many agreements which are in co-operation, whether this is in education or health or strategic aspects," he said.

SPIEF 2024, taking place from June 5-8, includes participants from over 136 countries. Since its inception in 1997, the forum has served as a platform for international dialogue on economic matters, with the patronage and participation of the Russian Federation's president since 2005.
