Outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg hands over to his successor, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, during the official transition ceremony at the alliance’s headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday, October 1.
The North Atlantic Council appointed Rutte on June 26. Stoltenberg steps down after more than a decade, with his mandate previously extended due to the conflict in Ukraine.
