The winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature is announced in Stockholm on Thursday, October 10.

The prize is awarded annually by the Swedish Academy, and can honour a specific work or entire body of work, covering fiction, poetry, essays, plays, and non-fiction, although is most commonly associated with literary fiction.

Recipients are awarded a gold medal, diploma, and significant cash prize. Last year’s winner, Norwegian Jon Fosse, was celebrated "for his innovative plays and prose which give voice to the unsayable."
