"Good news is right. I tell you what, that is all because of Prime Minister," Biden joked as Starmer continued that the Three Lions team has 'not lost a game under the Labour government in 2021'
UK prime minister was later asked: 'Is football coming home?', and he answered 'Looks like it.'
During the meeting, US President Joe Biden praised the relations between the US and the UK as the 'best of allies'
"When you want to, give me your hand, and I will come out. We are the best of allies, maybe, in the whole world, and we really need to continue to cooperate, and there is a lot we can talk about it," he stated.
On his part, Starmer stressed the importance of the 'special relationship' for the two countries, claiming the ongoing NATO summit to be an opportunity to 'recommit' it.
"It's been an incredibly important moment, 75 years of a bigger NATO, a stronger NATO, and a NATO with the resolve that we need. I thought the medal, the honour for Jens Stoltenberg yesterday, was a very special moment. I don't think he was expecting it," he concluded.
The Washington NATO Summit is the first international summit for Starmer since winning last week's general election in the UK. The summit is expected to last from July 6 to 11.
