Description

Residents of the Assyrian Christian town of al-Qosh attended Easter celebrations at the Mar Qardakh Church, Saturday. Drone footage captured the majesty of the surroundings in which the church lays.

The town's Christian inhabitants flocked into the church to observe the ceremonies marking the Holy Week, praying for peace, security, and for those who had been displaced from their homes to find their way back.

Al-Qosh, only 50 kilometres (31 miles) north of the embattled city of Mosul, was liberated from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) last September after having been under IS control since 2014.
