Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan called for 'Trumpamania' to 'make America great again', while performing his trademark 'shirt rip', as he whipped up the crowd ahead of Donald Trump's speech to the Republican National Convention on Thursday.

"What happened last week, when they took a shot at my hero and they tried to kill the next President of the United States. Enough was enough," he told them, referring to Saturday's assassination attempt. "I said, 'Let Trumpamania run wild, brother! Let Trumpamania rule again, let Trumpamania make America great again!'"

Footage also shows Trump applauding and the crowd chanting 'USA!'

'The Hulkster', a huge star in pro-wrestling in the 1980s and 90s, is famed for his own 'Hulkamania' brand. He added that opponents had 'thrown everything at Donald Trump'.

"All the investigations, the impeachments, the court cases, and he's still standing and kicking their butts," he continued, saying that the US 'never had it better than the Trump years'.

"We had a thriving economy. We had strong borders. We had safe streets. We had peace and respect around the world. But then we lost it all in a blink of an eye," he claimed. "The only person who can clean this up is Donald Trump."

Trump himself also has long-standing ties to the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company, appearing alongside Hog.an and many other stars. He was part of 2007's 'Battle of the Billionaires' at WrestleMania 23 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the same year.
