Description

Sportsmen with disabilities participated in a wheelchair basketball tournament in Dubai on Wednesday as the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament returned to the UAE for its 11th edition.

This year, 10 teams are competing, with the sides divided into two groups. The first league includes teams from the Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority, members of Dubai’s Municipality, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and the Electricity and Water Authority.

The second group features teams from the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Courts, Mai Dubai Water, Dubai Community Development Authority, and Residence Complex Al Bustan.

Footage shows members of the Dubai Municipality team and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship going head-to-head at the Nad Al Sheba stadium.

"My first impression of the match is that it's very strong, and this is an early final for the tournament, and God willing, the next one will be better," said Egyptian player Walid Shahat.

Each team will meet in the early group stages, with the victors moving into the knockout rounds. The top two teams from each group qualify to play in the semi-finals while the losers compete for third place.

Wheelchair basketball matches will continue daily until March 28, when the final takes place at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.
