Macron was in the area with his Minister of Health Francois Braun, visiting a university hospital as part of his new domestic agenda dubbed '100 days of ambition and action in the service of France'.
Activists remain angry about the government’s pension reforms, which include increasing the retirement age from 62 to 64. Protests have been ongoing since the plans were announced in January, and intensified following the administration’s decision to force through the measures without a vote in the National Assembly.
