Thousands of French football fans were thrilled as they watched their beloved team defeat Portugal in the UEFA EURO 2024 quarter-final match at the Grand Rex cinema in Paris on Friday.

Footage shows fans watching the game, expressing their concerns throughout the tie, before bursting into joy when Les Bleus finally claimed victory. After celebrating inside the stadium, they are seen pouring out onto the streets, enthusiastically expressing their jubilation.

"We want to thank Maignan, who is the star of the team for us. Maignan, we love you!," said a fan, sending his gratitude towards goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who had a blistering performance with some remarkable saves.

"To be honest, it was a tough game when it shouldn't have been. We have a very good defence, but the strikers need to confirm that. We're hoping that on Tuesday we'll get some goals from the game this time, rather than penalty shoot-outs that'll make me die of tachycardia. We're happy with what we've seen," shared another supporter.

"I was in a trance for the whole match. In the end, we made it. We're in the semi-finals, we're going to win the Euro," expressed a fan.

France and Portugal took to a decisive penalty shootout following a goalless draw after 120 minutes of official and extra time in Hamburg's Volksparkstadion on Friday. Joao Felix was the only player to miss his shots, while France converted all of their five shots to edge through the tie with a 5-3 victory in the shootout and advanced to the semifinals.

France will face Spain, who had defeated Germany 2-1 previously, at the Allianz Arena Stadium in Munich on July 9.
