Former US president Donald Trump told members of the American Jewish community that he 'won't allow another Holocaust', during a remembrance event for the October 7 attacks in Miami on Monday.

"I will not allow another Holocaust of the Jewish people," he said. "I will not allow a jihad to be waged on America or our allies. I will support Israel's right to win its war on terror, and it has to win it fast."

Trump added that there can be 'no acceptance, no excuse and no understanding of this kind of evil'.

"Nothing can justify it, nothing can rationalise it, any person who sympathises with it, with these terrible atrocities has a sickness in their soul and a darkness in their heart," he continued.

He also hit out at what he saw as the 'outbreak of anti-Semitism' that had followed the events of October 7, and defended Israel's actions in both Gaza and more recently in Lebanon.

"Hamas has now been severely degraded, and Hezbollah has recently been dealt very, very powerful, crippling blows with strength and the right leadership. The dawn of a new, more harmonious Middle East is finally within our reach. It's finally within our reach," he claimed.

Monday's anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attacks saw memorials, protests and rally take place around the world.

Around 1,139 Israelis, mostly civilians, were killed in the assault on southern Israel, with around 200 taken hostage, according to the Israeli side. It led to Israel's campaign of airstrikes and ground incursion into Gaza, which has resulted in nearly 42,000 deaths according to Palestinian officials.

Last month, tensions also escalated with Lebanon, with mass casualties from exploding pagers used by Hezbollah, which the group blamed on Israel. The IDF did not comment, but launched a campaign of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, as well as a ground incursion at the start of last week. Those airstrikes had killed over 2,000 people, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry at time of publication, and saw thousands flee the region.
