The UN Security Council passed a resolution calling for a 'lasting ceasefire' in Libya in New York City on Wednesday.
The resolution, which was drafted by the UK, reaffirms commitments made at the Berlin conference on Libya on January 19, including upholding a UN arms embargo on both sides in the conflict.
Russia's Permanent Representative to United Nations Vasily Nebenzya abstained from supporting the resolution, stating that "We seriously doubt this kind of ultimatum will spur Libyans to reach an agreement quicker."
