Description

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen stated that NATO should seek closer strategic links with Moscow once the armed conflict in Ukraine is settled, speaking in Paris on Wednesday.

"As soon as the Russo-Ukrainian war is over and has been settled with a peace treaty, I will decide on the implementation of a strategic rapprochement between NATO and Russia, as had been envisaged. It is in the interest of France and of Europe, but also, I believe, of the United States," Le Pen said.

Her comments came as Le Pen called a press conference to present her foreign policy, including her positions on Brexit, energy, and European politics, among others.

The 'National Rally' leader is set to face off incumbent French President Emmanuel Macron in a runoff vote on April 24.
