Description

Libyans rallied in Tripoli's Martyrs' Square on Monday to celebrate the ninth anniversary of the February 17 uprising that toppled former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

People could be seen waving flags and dancing, with children shouting 'Libya! Libya!" as they greeted Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) leader Fayez al-Sarraj, who joined the street celebrations.

This year's celebration comes as the GNA is facing an offensive by the Libyan National Army (LNA) of commander Khalifa Haftar, which controls much of country's east and parts of the south. Tripoli has been under siege since last year, as both parties battle it out for control of Libya.
