German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande gave a press conference with the latter stating that "What is happening in Aleppo is truly a war crime", the statement comes following a 'Normandy Four' meeting in Berlin, on Wednesday.

In turn, Merkel expressed how difficult the talks were with Russian President Putin, before adding that Russia plays an important role in initiating a political process to resolve the war in Syria.

Putin, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Hollande were received by Merkel earlier in the evening for Normandy Four talks. The resolution of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, as well as discussion over the situation in Syria, was addressed during the meeting.
