Top German politicians gathered in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin to show solidarity with Israel and take a stance against antisemitism, Thursday.

"It is an everlasting mission to us. Anyone who attacks Jewish life in Germany attacks the identity of German society and attacks us all. We would have learned nothing from the atrocities of the Nazis if we had forgotten this principle," said Vice-Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

His voice was echoed by Green politician Cem Ozdemir, who added, "The Hamas, the Hezbollah, the Mullahs in Iran should know, whoever attacks Israel or wants to wipe out Israel, will also have to deal with the Federal Republic of Germany."

Berlin Mayor Michael Muller and Health Minister Spahn were also among attendees of the protest that was called by the Israel Solidarity Alliance.
