UK Prime Minister Liz Truss pledged more military support for Kiev, while borrowing language from famous French novel 'The Three Musketeers', during a speech at the UN General Assembly in New York, on Wednesday.

"We will sustain or increase our military support to Ukraine, for as long as it takes," said Truss. "New UK weapons are arriving in Ukraine as I speak, including more MLRS rockets. We will not rest until Ukraine prevails."

The newly-installed PM praised the 'resolute international response' to Ukraine, saying that the G7 and partners should act as an 'economic-NATO'.

"If the economy of a partner is being targeted by an aggressive regime we should act to support them. All for one and one for all," she stated, a twist on the famous 'one for all and all for one’ motto of the Alexander Dumas classic.

Truss also took aim at Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of 'trying to justify his catastrophic failures' following Moscow’s announcement of partial mobilisation.

"He is doubling down by sending even more reservists to a terrible fate. He is desperately trying to claim the mantle of democracy for a regime without human rights or freedoms. And he is making yet more bogus claims and sabre-rattling threats," she claimed.

On Wednesday, Putin said the 300,000 reservists would be used to protect the sovereignty of both Russia and four regions holding referenda on joining the federation.

The local administrations of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (LPR and DPR), and those set up in Zaporozhye and Kherson after they came under Russian control, unveiled the plans on Tuesday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Western leaders have described the votes as a 'sham'.

The general debate at the UN General Assembly continues until September 26.
