UnidosUS chief Janet Murguia told conference attendees in Las Vegas on Wednesday, that she just spoke with President Biden and that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and would not be able to address them.

"Regrettably, I was just on the phone with President Biden. And he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. The president has been at many events as we all know and he just tested positive for COVID," said the head of the country's largest Latino rights organisation.

The president also posted 'I'm sick' on his X social media account, but followed up with a call for donations in his next post, continuing: "...of Elon Musk and his rich buddies trying to buy this election. And if you agree, pitch in here."

Murguia also pointed out that Biden might attend the event later.

"He said to tell my folks that we are not gonna get rid of him that quickly. We are gonna have a chance to hear from him in the future directly," she added.

The revelation comes as Biden faces increasing pressure, even reportedly from those inside the Democratic Party, to step aside following ongoing concerns about his health and cognitive abilities.

On Wednesday, he also told one news outlet that he would consider dropping out "if a doctor diagnosed him with a 'medical condition'."
