Description

Protesters demanding justice for Jacob Blake, a black man shot by police and reportedly currently paralysed, took to the streets of Kenosha and marched towards the county courthouse on Saturday.

Father of Jacob Blake, Jacob Blake Sr., addressed the crowd, asking protesters to continue fighting for justice but calling for a stop to the violence that has destroyed many businesses and buildings in the city.

"You cannot imagine what it feels like to look at your baby. Paralysed from the waist down. Shackled. Shackled. Where was my son going? They already put him in the bed. What was the shackle for?" said Jacob Blake Sr.

He then added, "do me a favour, my nation is asking you. Stop it. Stop it. Show them for one night we don't have to tear up nothing. For one night."

Kenosha has become the latest hotspot of protests against racism and police brutality after a 29-year-old black man identified as Jacob Blake was shot several times in the back by officers on August 23rd. Two people were killed in the protests that followed the shooting, with the city suffering massive damage to personal property and businesses.
