The Israeli army reportedly announced on Tuesday that it targeted a 'weapons depot and Hezbollah infrastructure' in Beirut's southern suburb, causing massive destruction, particularly in the areas of Burj al-Barajneh, Al-Laylaki, and Haret Hreik, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.

Night-time footage filmed on Tuesday captured the moment of the strike, as fires ignited and smoke columns rose.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army issued a warning to residents to evacuate several buildings in Haret Hreik and to stay away at least 500 meters of it, claiming these were 'Hezbollah-affiliated facilities', and the army 'will act against them.'

In contrast, the official Lebanese news agency reported that "hostile warplanes carried out an airstrike on Haret Hreik, Al-Laylaki, and Burj al-Barajneh, while reconnaissance aircraft flew at low altitudes over the southern suburbs."

The IDF announced on September 23, launching a military operation with airstrikes on southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut’s southern suburb dubbed 'Operation Northern Arrows,’ with the aim of returning Israeli residents of the north to their homes. The IDF also announced the launch of a 'limited' ground operation in southern Lebanese villages near the border with Israel.

On September 27, the IDF continued to conduct a series of strikes on Beirut's southern suburb that claimed the lives of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, southern front commander Ali Karaki, and several of Nasrallah's aides, according to a Hezbollah statement.

The Israeli shelling reportedly killed more than 2,119 people and injured over 10,019 since October 8, according to Lebanese ministry of health. Hezbollah, in its turn, continued its rocket attacks on areas of northern Israel, Haifa, Safad and Tel Aviv.

Tensions in southern Lebanon have escalated in mid-September after the pagers used by Hezbollah exploded and the Israeli shelling of Beirut's southern suburb, which targeted military commanders in Hezbollah, took place.

Hezbollah and other Palestinian factions have been engaging in cross-border exchanges of fire with Israeli forces since October 8, the day after the Israeli-Hamas conflict in Gaza started.
