Former US president Donald Trump claimed that Democratic nominee Kamala Harris 'destroys everything she touches,' and compared her plan to tackle price gouging 'the Maduro plan', referring to the leader of Venezuela.

"She is running on the 'Maduro plan,' we call it the 'Maduro plan' like something straight out of Venezuela or the Soviet Union. This announcement is an admission that her economic policies have totally failed and caused really a catastrophe for our country and beyond that a catastrophe in the world," said Trump during the press conference at his New Jersey golf club on Thursday.

The Republican nominee also criticised Harris' running mate Tim Walz, saying that he is 'more radical' than senator Bernie Sanders.

"He [Walz] approved a bill recently, tampons in boys' bathrooms. He wants tampons in boys' bathrooms, it's terrible," said Trump.

In 2023, Tim Walz signed a bill mandating free menstrual products in Minnesota schools for students in grades four until twelve. The gender-neutral status mandated schools to ensure these products were accessible to students of all genders.

The former president emphasised that he was 'probably the toughest' on Russia, boasting that he ended Moscow's Nord Stream II pipeline project, which he described as "the biggest deal they've ever done."

"All of Europe was going to be supplied by Russia. And I ended the deal. It was dead. And then Biden comes in and approves it," said Trump.

The Nord Stream I and Nord Stream II pipelines, which transported natural gas from Russia to Germany beneath the Baltic Sea, were damaged by explosions in September 2022, just seven months after the start of Russia-Ukraine conflict. This damage rendered the pipelines inoperable, further exacerbating the energy crisis in Europe.

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5. On July 15, the Republican Party convention nominated former President Donald Trump as their candidate for the 2024 race.
