The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell warned that the 'West Bank is becoming another Gaza, while addressing the UN Security Council in New York on Friday.

“You can see the videos of [Israeli] bulldozers destroying groves, destroying water supply systems, destroying sewerage -  all that in the name of fighting against terrorism," he claimed.

He said that both Israel and Palestine needed a ‘strong, legitimate, and effective Palestinian authority,’ and that the EU would provide 400 million euros of emergency support to encourage this reform.

Borrell also discussed the 'global alliance' led by Saudi Arabia to push for a two-state solution, stressing the need for ‘a free Palestine next to a secure Israel,’ and calling on the international community to engage in meaningful dialogue.

"Taking responsibility means that we must not only say what we oppose. 'I don't want the solution.' Okay, then what is your solution? You don't want the two-state solution, which is the solution?" he asked.

The Gaza war between Israel and Hamas is now in its 11th month, which tensions also heightened and frequent Israeli raids in the West Bank, which the IDF says are about combating terrorism.
