Footage shows protesters marching through the streets of the Bolivian capital carrying Bolivian and Whipalas flags while chanting in favour of Morales and against opposition politicians Carlos Mesa and Fernando Camacho.
"Camacho cannot represent people from all over Bolivia and much less from El Alto. Now, if he thinks he is a representative of El Alto he has to come to the cabildo and show his face as a man," said one of the protesters.
Evo Morales was granted asylum by Mexico on Monday night. His successor said that, "he has left of his own accord."
On Sunday, Bolivian President Evo Morales announced his resignation, following weeks of unrest in the wake of the disputed October 20 presidential election. Morales said he had received threats from opposition leaders and was eventually forced by the country's military to step down.
