Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee, US Senator for Florida Marco Rubio and Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump addressed attendees at the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) on Tuesday in Milwaukee.

During her speech, Huckabee claimed former US President Donald Trump be protected by God, "not even an assassin's bullet could stop him. God almighty intervened because America is one nation under God, and he is certainly not finished with President Trump," she stated.

Arkansas governor went on to accuse the left of 'attacking' her during the time she served as White House Press Secretary under Trump.

"I endured relentless attacks from the left. I was insulted as a guest at the White House Correspondents Dinner. My family was denied service and kicked out of a restaurant," she recalled.

Huckabee also criticized US President Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris for caring only about 'empowering themselves' contrary to the Biden-Harris Administration’s claims to support 'women’s empowerment'.

Referring to Trump’s America First policy which implies withdrawal from global affairs and focusing on domestic issues US Senator for Florida Marco Rubio stressed that there is 'absolutely nothing dangerous or anything divisive' about it.

For his part, US Senator for Florida Marco Rubio criticized the 'weak leaders' for making 'bad decisions' that harmed the country and urged for change through 'our voices and our votes'.

"Now, though bloodied by our wounds, we must stand up, and we must fight. Fight not with violence or destruction. But with our voices and our votes. Fight not against each other but for the hopes and dreams we share in common and make us one," he stated.

Remembering the shooting day, Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump recalled her family's reaction to the assassination attempt.

"Our family has faced our fair share of death threats,... None of that prepares you as a mother to quickly reach for the remote and turn your young children away from the screen so that they are not witnesses to something that scars the memory of their grandpa for the rest of their lives," she said.

"Martin Luther King Jr. once famously said the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of convenience and comfort. But where he stands at times of challenge and controversy," she added.

The four-day Republican convention comes just days after Saturday's shooting. During the rally in Butler, the former president was seen with blood on his face after a bullet grazed his ear, as well as raising his fist to the crowd and shouting 'fight' as the secret service moved him to the motorcade.

The gunman, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot dead by secret service agents at the scene. It was reported that he was a registered Republican, but had also donated $15 to a Democrat-aligned political action committee the day Joe Biden began his presidency.
