Description

Christmas has come early for some animals at the Zoo Miami in Florida, as they received holiday treats and gifts as seen on Friday.

The treats were part of the Zoo's enrichment programme, whereby staff set up barrels containing different foods for the animals with which the animals can engage and even play with.

"Enrichment is a very important part of keeping these animals both mentally and physically healthy," said Ron Magill, Communications Director of the Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Garden.

An elephant and a bear could be seen engaging with props and eating their Christmas treats, entertaining visitors.

The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens, also known as Zoo Miami or Miami MetroZoo, is the largest zoo in Florida.
