US President Donald Trump called the $900 billion (€738 billion) COVID relief and stimulus bill 'wasteful' and 'a disgrace' in a statement from the White House, on Tuesday, calling for congress to eliminate some items and increase the $600 (€492) direct payments to $2,000 (€1641).

Trump listed foreign countries the bill provided aid to, as well as the amount each country would receive before saying, "I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000 or $4,000 for a couple."

He added, "I'm also asking Congress to immediately get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items from this legislation and to send me a suitable bill, or else the next administration will have to deliver a COVID relief package. And maybe that administration will be me, and we will get it done."

Trump has yet to concede the result of the US presidential election, in which President-elect Joe Biden won a majority of the Electoral College. The outgoing president has been alleging widespread fraud but has not presented evidence.
