At time of publication of the footage, the estimated death toll from the 6.8 magnitude quake was over 800, according to the Interior Ministry.

According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre was located 72 km southwest of Marrakech in Morocco's High Atlas mountain range.

According to local media, health authorities appealed to citizens to donate blood, while rescue teams continued operations to find those trapped under the rubble.
