US President Joe Biden spoke to about 1,000 troops and their families at a British airbase, the Royal Air Force Mildenhall, in his first trip overseas since taking office, on Wednesday.

Biden commented on his upcoming summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and said that his administration is 'not seeking conflict.'

"We want a stable, predictable relationship. Our two nations share incredible responsibilities and among them ensuring strategic stability in upholding arms control agreements. I take that responsibility seriously," he stated.

He warned however that "the United States will respond in a robust and meaningful way when the Russian government engages in harmful activities."

The summit with Putin is set to take place at the Villa La Grange in Geneva on June 16. But Biden will make his first overseas stop in Cornwall for the G7 summit, before travelling to Brussels for talks with NATO and European Union leaders.
