At least eight people were killed, and five injured after a double shooting in Hanau, near Frankfurt, late on Wednesday.

Police are still searching for people thought to be involved in the attacks, which took place at two shisha bars in the west German town.

Footage shows special police units with dogs and dozens of paramedics at the second shooting site.

A gunman reportedly opened fire outside one shisha bar in the town's Heumarkt district and drove off to a second location in the Kesselstadt district where he opened fire again.

Investigations are ongoing and the motive behind the attacks remains unclear.
