Footage filmed on Saturday features long lines of cars waiting at gas stations in the Iranian capital, Tehran, amid the Israel's strikes on Iranian 'military targets'.

The strikes began in the early hours of Saturday morning local time. A number of explosions were reported in Tehran by local media.

IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said it was "in response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the state of Israel."

Iran's air defence headquarters confirmed that Israel attacked military sites in Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam provinces, noting that the attack resulted in 'limited damage' to some sites.

Iranian officials announced the cancellation of flights on all routes until further notice, according to the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).

Iran launched a wave of missile strikes on Israel on October 1, which it said was in response to Israel's killing of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah during operations in Lebanon, and others. Following the attacks Netanyahu said that Tehran had made a 'big mistake' and warned of 'consequences'.

Israel is currently fighting Hezbollah with airstrikes and ground troops in southern Lebanon and conducting an ongoing offensive against Hamas in Gaza, following the October 7, 2023, attacks. Over 2,500 have been reported killed in Lebanon and over 42,000 in Gaza at time of publication.
