Hundreds of Inter Miami fans flocked to the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday night, hoping to witness some Messi magic as the Argentine ace returned to Major League Soccer (MLS) for the first time since June after suffering an ankle injury at Copa America.

Footage shows crowds clad in pink Inter shirts sporting Messi's name and his iconic number ten gathering outside the stadium.

"It would be great if he's back. If not, the rest of the team has been doing really well," an Inter fan said. "It would be great if Messi plays, but Suarez has been doing awesome, and so has everybody else."

"I checked the roster, and he's going to start. So I feel great being a lifelong Messi fan. I feel very happy being a lifelong fan of Barcelona and everything," added a second.

Messi would go on to score two goals against Philadelphia Union, bringing his tally to 14 for the MLS club. Uruguay's Luis Suarez followed up with a third goal in second-half stoppage time as Inter secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over the side from Pennsylvania.

"I'm very happy to see Messi again, after two months of waiting, to see the best player in the world, the best in history, and with two goals. I'm going home happy," an Inter fan said after the match.

"He was hungry after two months of the injury he had in the Copa America. True, very happy to see him back, with two goals. Well, fantastic, great goals," added a second.

Top of the MLS league, the club owned by English football legend David Beckham will head to Georgia next, where they face Atlanta United on Wednesday.
