The Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, addressed a massive pro-Palestinian rally in Tehran on Wednesday, praising the airstrikes carried by Hamas in the latest conflict with Israel and showing support for what he called 'battle of the Muslims.'

"Today the world is changing. A new Palestine has emerged, one that no longer fights with slingshots and stones, but with missiles. It is a strong Palestine that can target all industrial facilities, all airbases. Last night, six important strategic airbases of the Zionist regime came under fire. This is a new Palestine, a Palestine that the world recognises with power, with reaction and fire of wrath and holy faith," Salami told the crowd.

"We declare, as always, that we support our loved ones in Palestine. Know that the battle of Palestine is not just the battle of the Palestinians against Israel, it is the symbol of the battle of the Muslims with the arrogance of the world," he added.

Protesters could be seen holding 'I love you Palestine' banners, waving signs against Israel and burning American flags.

Tensions between Israelis and Palestinians began to spiral over the planned eviction of Palestinian families from East Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, as well as repeated clashes between worshippers and Israeli police at the al-Aqsa compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, during Ramadan.

Subsequent hostilities including rockets fired from Gaza, has left 12 civilians dead in Israel, including two children, while a campaign of Israeli airstrikes and bombardments has killed over 200 people, including at least 60 children.
