Description

An initiative by an environmental activist Temitope Okunnu saw 'eco-friendly' Christmas trees made out of thousands of plastic bottles and used tyres set up in Lagos, footage from Friday showed.

Temitope Okunno environmentalist and creative mind behind the project said, "we need everybody to feel happy, to feel the spirit of Christmas and in doing this we have also decided to use the waste materials we find around us. The PET bottles and the tyres."

One of the recyclers said, "I was impressed that is why I contributed more bottles. I saw what she did and decided to give more support."

The initiative was supported by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK).
